Minister for Health, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete has confirmed that those who need the medication, Enalapril and are registered under the Free Medicine Scheme can obtain it from private pharmacies which are also registered under the Free Medicine Scheme.
This comes after concerns were raised about two types of medications, Metformin and Enalapril being out of stock at some health centres in Fiji.
The Health Minister adds health centres which do not have Metformin in stock have to place their orders with Fiji Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Services.
Dr Waqainabete has confirmed Metformin is in stock and the Ministry has also made appropriate arrangements for Enalapril which will be replenished soon.
Both medications are on the Free Medicine Scheme.
Metformin is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes while Enalapril is used to treat high blood pressure, diabetic kidney disease, and heart failure.
