National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad says this is not their first protest in parliament and as long as the Prime Minister and the Attorney General are in power, this will not be their last.
He says they respect the Speaker and his authority but in exercising that authority if they find that the Speaker makes a ruling that they believe is wrong then they will respond in a way that they believe is appropriate.
In a press conference this afternoon, Professor Prasad says the government had created the first set of rules for parliament and had changed it when it was not working.
He says the rule is that any petition that is brought into parliament must be endorsed by 40% of the Members of Parliament and claims that now that the Opposition is made up of more than 40%, government is trying other ways to not allow petition to be referred to the relevant committee.
Meanwhile, NFP President, Pio Tikoduadua has accused the Government Whip, Alvick Maharaj of racism.
Maharaj had called Professor Prasad a puppet of SODELPA and other members of his own party.
Tikoduadua says when he comes back to parliament on the 6th of next month, he will not condone any such action.
