There's a lot of vacancies that needs to be filled however, there's no talk of cutting or sending people home.
This was highlighted by the new Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Lynda Tabuya who says they have civil servants who have institutional memory and are very valuable to the work that they need to do.
Tabuya says they are relying on the knowledge and experience of their loyal civil servants who have worked in the ministry for almost 30 years in making the services of the ministry more effective to the people.
She adds they will also look at the acting positions within the ministry and attend to these as soon as possible.
Tabuya says in terms of any changes in the ministry, this will be done through the approval of the cabinet and the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Tabuya who was officially welcomed to the ministry by the staff today says she is extremely overjoyed to finally start her job of serving as the Minister for Women, Children & Poverty Alleviation as over the years, she has made it her life’s goal to help the less fortunate, and is happy that she can continue what she loves to do on a national stage in helping all Fijians.
She further says one of the foundations for building a better Fiji is providing equal opportunities to all Fijians irrespective of age, gender, physical ability or income level, thus, to promote inclusivity and development, the Ministry will continue to serve all Fijians
