There is a major worry on domestic related cases where women and children are victims of sexual and assault related crimes in their own homes.
This was highlighted by the Acting Commissioner Aporosa Lutunauga as he says there were extreme domestic violence cases reported over the weekend.
Lutunauga say they are deeply concerned that women continue to be victims of crime in the domestic setting where they are supposed to be protected.
They say some reports are unfortunately done too late that a life has already been lost.
The Acting Commissioner says through community policing efforts they are working with other stakeholders in addressing domestic violence through a holistic and integrated approach.
He adds that support of vanua, religious people and advisory councils is needed to assist police and other stakeholders for the sake of women.
