The Ministry of Education says there is a lack of technical teachers in secondary schools in Fiji.
While responding to a plea from a Uluivalili college community member during a talanoa session with the Prime Minister about the lack of facilities for technical subjects in school such as Woodwork, Technical Drawing and Home Economics, the Education Ministry representative said that the case of lack of technical teachers faced by Uluivalili college is similar to those faced by other schools in Fiji.
The Ministry representative says they have started recruiting technical teachers who have recently graduated from university and they are hoping to recruit those that will graduate from the Fiji National University soon.
The Ministry has also stated that the school should provide all the necessary documents and apply for the school assistance grant from the Ministry.
