Water Authority of Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Opetaia Ravai says there are quite a few challenges that they are facing.
Ravai highlighted this while speaking to Fijivillage during the first ever Fiji National Water Forum at Novotel, Lami.
Ravai says they will be working on a 20 year master plan which will be used as a guideline on ways issues can be solved.
He adds that there is a need for investment in the water sector.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Local Government and Infrastructure, Parveen Bala says the main aim of the forum is to promote knowledge sharing on national and global water challenges and solutions.
Bala also thanked the Authority in being able to reduce water leakages over the years.
Bala says this has resulted in the Non‑Revenue Water level being reduced from 51.7 percent in 2013 to 39.6 percent in 2015.
He says this has resulted in Water Authority of Fiji saving $13.8 million.
