The late former Police Commissioner Esala Teleni was laid to rest at Lovonilase Cemetery today.
Speaking during his funeral service, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said that Teleni was someone whom he laughed, played, worked and joked with during their days at the naval base and that he was a person of integrity.
While speaking on behalf of all military personnel, Commander of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto thanked Teleni for his support and hard work during his time of service as a military officer.
Deputy Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu says Teleni was someone who was always trying to bring stability to the organization.
Tudravu says during Teleni’s service in the Fiji Police Force, he allowed chaplaincy and was the only commissioner to promote 263 non-commissioned Police Officers in a week.
He says the late Commissioner Teleni was a leader who had led with distinction and had made decisions which is still benefitting the policing profession today.
