The dedication and passion of the 30 ROG Ambassadors from Jai Narayan College, Jasper Williams High School, and Nadi Sangam Primary School exemplify the spirit of activism, reminding us that meaningful change begins at the grassroots level.
This was highlighted by the Pacific Recycling Foundation Founder Amitesh Deo while speaking at the Recycling on the Go Ambassadors Leadership Forum, at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi.
Deo says their involvement underscores the power of collaboration between sports icons and recycling and environmental advocates in creating recycling awareness.
The event brought together a diverse array of stakeholders dedicated to advancing recycling and sustainability initiatives across Fiji.
While speaking at the forum Permanent Secretary for Education Selina Kuruleca also reaffirmed the Ministry’s and governmental support for PRF’s ROG Program Development.
The highlight of the event was the participation of 30 students, known as ROG Ambassadors where the enthusiastic young leaders shared their journeys, experiences, challenges, and innovative ideas for sustainability, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to environmental stewardship.
Swire Shipping Fijian Drua players, Caleb Muntz, Sailosi Vukalokalo, and Kitione Salawa also joined as New Recycling Advocates and showcased their dedication to the cause by making presentations with the students.
The forum was also marked by the presence of distinguished academics, Dr. Padma Lal and Dr. Thelma Raman, who travelled from Australia to lend their expertise to this groundbreaking initiative.
The ROG Ambassadors Leadership Forum served as a pivotal platform for the Pacific Recycling Foundation to advance its ROG strategy in collaboration with Swire Shipping and the Ministry of Education with the program currently implemented in three schools and plans for upscaling in more schools soon, this forum marked a significant milestone in the journey towards a greener and more sustainable Fiji.
The event was organised by Pacific Recycling Foundation in partnership with Swire Shipping and Tanoa Hotel Group.
