The Then India Sanmarga Ikya Sangam Fiji yesterday celebrated the lives of their founding fathers by holding a Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial day.
The TISI Sangam has prioritized education and the preservation of culture and South Indian languages.
The grandson of one of the founders, Richard Naidu of Munro Leys says organisations such as Sangam is where effective community leadership can be taught, the ability to motivate people to act in the service of others.
Naidu says Sangam has faced many challenges in its 90 year history, and its success as an organisation shows it is above those challenges.
TISI Sangam was established on 24th May in 1926 in Nadi and the first national president elected was Sadhu Kuppuswamy.
The event was attended by close to 80 people, and the celebrations kicked off with traditional classical Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam dances.
