Minister of Industry and Trade Premila Kumar

Minister for Industry and Trade, Premila Kumar says there are more than 500,000 people travelling by bus everyday in the country and the Ministry wants to be fair on the consumers and bus operators.

Kumar says the Bus Fare Review Committee has successfully completed the review exercise and has submitted their report with recommendations to the Ministry of Economy.

She made the comments in parliament when asked by SODELPA MP, Ro Filipe Tuisawau to give an update on the bus fare review.

When further questioned on the measures taken by the Ministry to alleviate the high operational costs on the bus owners which they are complaining about, Kumar says the decision is yet to be made.

She says the only thing the bus operators had to do was to provide their audited financial accounts.
