Swire Shipping Fijian Drua captain Meli Derenalagi could not contain his emotions after the win against the Crusaders and has stressed that the Drua team are the people’s team and they are just custodians of the jerseys.
Defending their home-turf in Lautoka against the Crusaders, Derenalagi says the players' mindset has changed a lot, and he attributes the mental awareness and preparations of the team members from the previous games and various encounters from the last season to setting a winning platform yesterday.
He thanked the supporters for the huge turnout in their first home game of the season and stated that after their loss to Moana Pasifika last week, the boys were feeling determined from the get-go on Monday and turned the table around in the Crusaders game.
When questioned by fijivillage News on their preparations for their games against the Chiefs, Coach Mick Byrne says they will look into their plan tomorrow and discuss the technical areas they need to work on.
Byrne has urged the Fijian supporters in New Zealand to come out in numbers and cheer the boys on in their next game against the Chiefs at 6.30pm Saturday in New Zealand.
