Ahead of the Vodafone Super Deans finals tomorrow, Swire Shipping Fijian Drua coach Glen Jackson’s message to the students taking part is that they are watching.
Jackson stated this in an interview with fijivillage News saying they are looking forward to all the age grade games tomorrow.
He says before the Deans might have been a pathway to go overseas but now it is to join the Drua.
The Drua coach says hopefully a 16 or 17-year-old will strive to be a part of the Drua Academy.
Earlier this year on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, Drua CEO Mark Evans revealed that they will be starting a Drua Academy Program where they will contract players as young as 15 to 16-years-old.
Evans said they are going to put more resources into this program to prevent young players going overseas.
He says once they get these players into the program, then a percentage of them go into the Drua development.
The Drua CEO says they will still recruit players from the Skipper Cup and the under 20s competition, but they have to get better at identifying the best talent earlier.
Looking at the finals, Ratu Kadavulevu School will face MGM High School in the U14 grade at 8am, Marist Brothers High School will take on Suva Grammar School in the U15 grade at 9.05am, Lelean Memorial School will play Suva Grammar School in the U16 grade at 11.25am, Ratu Kadavulevu School will battle Marist Brothers High School in the U17 grade at 12.50pm, Lami High School will play Queen Victoria School at 2.30pm in the U19 final and Nasinu Secondary School will face Queen Victoria School at 5.30pm in the U18 final.
