Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad assures people that the coalition government will not shy away from Professor Brij Lal's vision and has started fulfilling it by breaking down barriers made by the former government.
He says the late former Professor Lal was a man who contributed towards Fiji, shaped its development through the 1997 constitution, and stood for the rights and justice of the people of the nation.
He says Professor Lal and his wife were victims of the cruel and heartless regime of government that ruled Fiji for 16 years, which Professor Lal could not tolerate.
Meanwhile, Fiji Women’s Crisis Center Coordinator Shamima Ali says finally the wait is over for Professor Brij Lal's family, as he returned to his homeland in Tabia, Labasa. Ali says although this has bought relief to Professor Lal's family, one should never go through such situations.
