SODELPA MP Ro Filipe Tuisawau says the 2013 Constitution encourages hero-worship type politicians like the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Ro Filipe highlighted this while responding to the President’s Address during the opening of Parliament.

He also rubbished Government Whip, Alvick Maharaj and his statement that the current system of national constituencies encourages unity.

Ro Filipe says that Bainimarama is even called a Messiah and this is the result of the current voting system.

He says it is also a farce when those with less than 1000 votes get into Parliament and become MPs and ministers.

Ro Filipe says it is also impossible for voters to know which particular MP is responsible and accountable for their local areas.
