A 20-year-old tertiary student who allegedly obtained money after threatening to release nude photos of another man on social media has been re-arrested by police after being granted bail by the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.
Police are yet to confirm why he has been re-arrested.
Aman Nambiar is charged with two counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception.
The court has ordered Nambiar to deactivate all social media accounts under his name or any other name he uses until the conclusion of the case.
Nambiar allegedly created a fake profile as a woman and looked for potential victims online.
It is alleged after carefully identifying his potential victims, he would send a friend request, and after gaining the victim's trust would send sexual videos with a false hope of offering sexual favours.
The man would then allegedly ask for sexually explicit photos from the victim.
Once received, he would allegedly solicit $400 in exchange for the photos not to be posted on social media.
Police say the alleged incidents occurred in March this year.
Nambiar is also wanted for similar cases in Tavua and Totogo.
The case has been adjourned to the 2nd of December.
