A temporary bridge where the current Vatuwaqa Bridge is located will be open to all traffic from tomorrow afternoon.
The Fiji Roads Authority said normal bus services are also expected through this route for the convenience of the travelling public.
It is very important though that overloaded vehicles do not cross the bridge.
The temporary bridge will be a steel Bailey bridge similar to those installed around the world for emergency or short term use.
It will be single lane with traffic flow controlled by traffic lights on a timer setting.
Both directions of traffic will be allowed, but only one direction at any one time.
Meanwhile the temporary bridge will be in place while a new bridge is designed and built alongside the existing one.
