Telecom Fiji is nearing completion of its LTE 4G network expansion project between the Suva-Nausori corridor and parts of Lautoka to meet the growing demand for data.
Telecom CEO, Charles Goundar says the 4G network coverage complements Telecom’s premium broadband Fiber-to-the-Home service which has already been deployed in parts of Suva and the Western Division and continues to be rolled out in other parts of Suva.
He says areas such as Bayview Heights, Namadi Heights, Tamavua, parts of Samabula, Rifle Range, Suva Point, Domain, Nasese, Nailuva Road and Simla in Lautoka are already enabled for this service, which means that by default all homes in these areas are now fiber-ready.
Goundar says people in these areas can simply apply online and get connected to the fastest and most reliable broadband service.
He says Telecom has recorded over 100% growth in bandwidth consumption over the two years since the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Goundar adds Telecom continues to face growing demand for data bandwidth from customers, and continued investment in its 4G expansion is necessary to sustain the growing demand for data and data-enabled products and services in the future.
Meanwhile, Goundar says signals emitted from the 4G network towers does not cause any harm or pose any risk to human health.
