Telecom Fiji Limited has announced that they will be sponsoring the first ever Pacific Legal Aid Regional Conference in providing ICT services during the conference.
CEO, Charles Goundar says they are proud to be associated with Legal Aid Commission which provides essential legal services to all Fijians.
Goundar says they are also pleased to partner with any organisation that helps the people, being that Telecom practices the same values that of providing help and assistance to the grassroots and needful in the society.
He says this partnership does not stop here and he knows that future collaboration will provide the Legal Aid Commission with a platform to reach the unreached in remote areas of Fiji with their much needed services.
Meanwhile, the Director of Legal Aid Commission Shahin Ali says the 3-day Regional Legal Aid conference is the first of its kind and they are honoured to be hosting the many delegations that will be coming from around the Pacific.
Ali says they are proud to add Fiji’s digital and technological capabilities to the list of many things they plan to showcase at this event.
He says they have extended their invitations to Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
He adds they also have invited speakers from South Africa, Canada, Brazil, Europe, Tanzania and Maldives to speak and share their perspectives during the conference.
The Legal Aid Commission will launch its new 3 year strategic plan which aims to increase the Commission’s effectiveness in providing access to justice to poor and vulnerable Fijians who cannot afford private lawyers.
The Regional Legal Aid conference will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Natadola from this Wednesday till Friday.
