The Fiji Cancer Society has been given yet another boost to assist people fighting cancer as Telecom Fiji has raised $33,420 through it’s Charity Golf Tournament held last month at the Golf Club in Vatuwaqa.
Telecom Fiji says this will empower the Fiji Cancer Society to expand outreach programs, improve resources, and enhance patient support services, including the purchase of essential equipment for cancer testing, diagnosis, and care.
They say with the Movember initiative, the event also offered free Prostate-Specific Antigen screenings in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, emphasizing the importance of early detection and preventive healthcare.
They say this year’s funds surpassed previous totals, including $25,137 in 2023 and $19,288 in 2022, reflecting the event's growing impact and the generosity of its participants.
Telecom Fiji CEO, Charles Goundar says the tournament is more than just a game—it’s a community commitment to fighting cancer.
Fiji Cancer Society CEO, Belinda Chan says the tournament represents a step towards reducing the burden of cancer in our communities.
The tournament brought together passionate golfers, community leaders and supporters, raising a record-breaking and highest amount to date.
