Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad

A monitoring and evaluation team has been set up by the Ministry of Strategic Planning to take particular interest in making sure that they monitor what has been allocated to the Ministries in the budget.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad highlighted this during fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan when questioned about the healthcare facilities at the CWM Hospital.

Professor Prasad says if the budget is allocated to improve and to ensure basic health facilities and the equipment, they will have to ensure that it is done and provided at an appropriate time. Some pregnant mothers had raised issues about lack of beds and expected to be up and walking not too long after the surgery so that the bed was clear for the next person.

The Deputy Prime Minister says no one should go through this and they have to admit that the expenditure has been slow by different Ministries and they are expecting the Ministries to plan well before the budget.
