2,000 jobs are expected to be generated as a result of sustainable planting and harvesting of teak.

Future Forests Fiji that has planted over 140,000 teak trees, yesterday was officially accepted onto the South Pacific Stock Exchange after having first gone on Public Offer in October.

Future Forests Fiji Chairman, Paul Evers said they will hire local staff from areas surrounding the forests, provide specialized training and give landowners annual lease fees, 10% revenue and contracts for jobs.

Teak is a tropical hardwood which is both termite and weather resistant that is used in the production of high end furniture and ships.
