Fiji-born Highlanders winger Timoci Tavatavanawai played an instrumental role in helping the Tasman Makos claim a 34-15 win over Bay of Plenty in round 4 of the Bunnings NPC competition yesterday.
Tavatavanawai scored a try in the match and showed his class in attack and defence as well.
The 26-year-old had 11 carries, 1 line break and beat 8 defenders.
In defence, Tavatavanawai made 9 tackles, completing 8 of them including two dominant tackles and also winning 2 turnovers.
Meanwhile, Fiji-born All Blacks winger Emoni Narawa started at centre for Bay of Plenty and also scored a try for them.
Narawa also showed his class in yesterday’s game running a total of 127 metres in 11 carries, made 3 line breaks, beat 8 defenders, 1 try assist and 1 offload.
In other games played yesterday, Counties Manukau defeated North Harbour 36-33, Taranaki Bulls beat Otago 22-18 and Waikato beat Auckland 39-21.
