Former Fiji U20 outside back Timoci Tavatavanawai has been named as one of the Co-Captains for the Highlanders for the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

This is another milestone achieved by the former Queen Victoria School student after moving to the Highlanders last year from Moana Pasifika.

Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph says Tavatavanawai embodies the qualities the club’s management are looking for in their leaders.

He says this includes passion, commitment, and the ability to inspire others with actions or words.

Tavatavanawai will be Co-Captaining the side this season alongside backrower Hugh Renton.

Joseph says the two players bring unique strengths to the table, and he believes they will complement each other well as co-captains.

He adds he is excited to see them lead the team through what promises to be an exciting season.

The Highlanders will take on the Crusaders on February 6th in their preseason match in Invercargill.

Meanwhile, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will take on the Rugby Football Club Los Angeles this Friday at 3pm in Churchill Park Lautoka in their pre-season match.

The first round of the Super Rugby Pacific 2025 will kick off on the 14th of February 2025.
