Former Fiji under-20 and Highlanders winger Timoci Tavatavanawai put on an amazing performance for his Tasman Makos side as he scored a try to help them beat Auckland 31-17 in the final game of round 8 of the Bunnings NPC competition last night.
Tavatavanawai was a force to be reckoned with having 15 carries and beating 10 defenders.
The 27-year-old was also impressive in defence making a total of 11 tackles without missing any and also winning 3 turnovers for his side.
Tasman also had the services of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua lock Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta who also put in a show especially in defence making 16 tackles and completing all of them.
The win has seen Tasman moving to the top of the table with 37 points followed by Wellington who are locked at 35 points with 3rd placed Taranaki while Bay of Plenty is in 4th place with 33 points.
The last round of the competition will kick off tomorrow.
