The villagers of Tamavua in Naitasiri are united in their decision not to allow visitors to stay in their village for more than two weeks.

Tamavua Headman Sunia Malewa, says a few people have been warned due to marijuana-related activities, and these individuals are not from the village.

Malewa says they believe these visitors are the ones bringing drugs, such as marijuana, into their community.

He says according to the village by-laws, visitors who stay for more than two weeks are required to participate in any activities taking place in the village.

Malewa says they do not encourage their youths to get involved in drug-related activities.

Malewa also highlighted when issues such as drug use, rape, and other illegal activities occur in the village, it all comes down to whether parents and guardians are fulfilling their duties.
