My Ministry is holding talks with development partners regarding maintaining and upgrading facilities as such.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services, Ro Filipe Tuisawau while visiting the Water Authority of Fiji Nasealevu Intake in Macuata.
While on his visit, Tuisawau says that upgrading and maintaining infrastructure is a key component which they will be looking at in terms of water infrastructure, and it is also something they have been discussing with development partners such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Union, Australia and others.
He says the intake was one of WAF’s key infrastructures as it caters for the Labasa Town population, as well as nearby communities and villages.
He adds it's a basic human right, but it's not an easy job and WAF and his Ministry face huge challenges in that regard.
The Minister also explained that his visit was important for him as line Minister, so he could understand the difficulties faced by WAF in managing the site and supplying water to the people.
Tuisawau appreciated visiting the site because he now understands the difficulties faced by the Water Authority in managing the water infrastructure and getting water to the people.
He says says it has been seen that it is an impressive site and it is not a picnic area but it is very critical in the Labasa urban infrastructure and for the industries around this area and not only that but as people of Macuata.
