An agreement has been made between the Fiji Roads Authority and the Japan International Cooperation Agency to fund an extra two-way lane at the Tamavua-i-Wai bridge.

This was confirmed by Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services, Ro Filipe Tuisawau while giving an update on the works being carried out at the Tamavua-i-Wai bridge.

Ro Filipe says they are still having some discussions with JICA and will be finalising everything soon before the project begins.

He believes that there should also be a 4-lane road constructed from Nadi to Suva.

He adds that a request has been sent to FRA to work on the plans and funding of the new double lane that will be constructed soon after everything is finalised.

Ro Filipe says as an entity, work must go on because this is currently happening and they envision that this will be the situation as they look at the current road services portfolio and how it could be managed.

He says this is part of the FRA yearly plan, but he doesn't want to share this announcement because people will think they are dreaming.
