Veiqaravi says he had mixed emotions, grieving the loss of one of his greatest supporter, while also feeling excited about being selected for the opportunity to join the Correctional Services.
The 28-year-old says despite these challenges, it did not deter his focus.
Veiqaravi also highlighted that he graduated from Fiji National University in 2020 as a teacher and has been teaching at several private schools.
Veiqaravi says he applied his knowledge during the 14 weeks of training.
Fakaofo Tonga, one of the four recruits from the Majesty Prison of Tonga, acknowledged the Tonga Correctional Services for allowing him to be part of the 14-week training program here in Fiji.
The 19-year-old was awarded the Best Physical Recruit Award.
Meanwhile, Corrections Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa reminded the recruits that their presence is a testament to their dedication and commitment to the profession.
He acknowledged their perseverance, especially in completing the demanding training away from their families.
Dr. Nakarawa also reminded them to stay dedicated and remember that their work holds profound significance—not just for those in their care but for their families, communities, and the nation.
A total of 64 recruits graduated today, and 4 of them are from the Kingdom of Tonga.
