Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya has created history by being the first female to be elected as the President of the Kadavu Rugby Union.
Kadavu Rugby Union Zone representatives gathered at Vunisea Secondary School yesterday for the first ever Kadavu Rugby Union Annual General Meeting.
The Zone representatives unanimously agreed to elect Tabuya to be the President of the Kadavu Rugby Union.
Tabuya says she was overwhelmed by their show of confidence in her to lead the Kadavu Rugby Union.
She says she was ready to take up the role and that shattering the glass ceiling would pave the way for women in the future.
Tabuya says she is committed to proudly spearheading the worthy initiative of empowering the youth of Kadavu, especially school rugby and women’s rugby, as well as ensuring that the governance structure is secure.
Kadavu Provincial Council Chairman Tui Tawava Malakai Masi says Kadavu is proud to be the first province in Fiji to have a woman as the President of its rugby union.
