We need to be upfront with children about sexuality, sex education, and the need to protect themselves, as well as what it means to say yes and no when it comes to consent.
This has been highlighted by the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, while responding to questions about sexual health, reproduction, and the curriculum during the World Human Rights Day event organised by the NGO Coalition on Human Rights.
Tabuya says the language in the current Family Life Education curriculum is a little too mild and needs to be made more practical for today’s society.
She adds that the curriculum does need to change to reflect these realities.
