TLTB has issued 18,787 leases on iTaukei land from 2010 to 2018

The Itaukei Land Trust Board has issued 18,787 leases on iTaukei land from 2010 to 2018.

This was highlighted in a written statement to parliament by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

The statement was a response to a written question by SODELPA MP, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu asking Bainimarama to explain the number of native leases which have been issued by the TLTB since 2010.

Bainimarama stated that land leases were given for agricultural purposes, residential, commercial, industrial and others.

He highlighted that TLTB also issued 10,052 new residential leases from 2010 to 2018.

Bainimarama also stated that the trend of new leases issued by TLTB demonstrates the demand for housing in Fiji.

The total leased area at the end of 2018 was 421,301.9 hectares.
