TISI Sangam is facing problems in trying to get funding to start its proposed projects which includes Nursing School and a Hostel in Labasa.

TISI Sangam’s National President, Sadasivan Naicker said the plan was done in 2006 and a grant of $3.8 million was granted by the Asian Development Bank however it was withdrawn because of the coup in 2006.

He said they went to the Asian Development Bank this year to request for the grant and they were informed that it was for that year only.

Naicker added they will approach other organisations for a grant but if they are unsuccessful then they will take a loan to do this project.

He said there is a need for a hostel as their 300 students are currently studying in the Nursing School in Labasa and they have to find their own accommodations.

TISI Sangam also has plans to construct a Retirement House on their 45 acre piece of land in Nawai, Nadi.

The estimated cost of the project is $14 million and the work will be done in phases.
