Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited General Manager, Ivan Fong says he believes Telecom Fiji Limited must have had an agreement of some sort where payment was made by the Education Ministry to TFL for certain services in regards to e-ticketing in 2012.
Fong says he believes TFL had incurred an expenditure and had invoiced the Education Ministry for those services.
He says the sad part was that the whole project stopped and everything came to a halt which made things challenging.
Fong’s comments come as the Public Accounts Committee has raised serious concerns in relation to a payment of $230,000 to TFL by the Education Ministry for a service which they allege was not delivered by TFL.
Education Ministry’s Director Finance, Makarita Fuata told the committee that none of the schools received any e-ticketing cards from TFL.
She says they have written to TFL three times about the issue and the only response has been that they want more time to look into the case.
Fuata confirms the matter will be forwarded to the Solicitor General’s office to take legal action and it will also be submitted to FICAC.
