Tropical Disturbance TD09F is expected to enter Fiji waters from the Northeast of Fiji by later tomorrow possibly as a Tropical Depression.
According to the Nadi Weather Office, TD09F is expected to gradually intensify while tracking south towards Fiji.
They say associated active trough and strong to near gale force winds are expected to affect parts of the country from later tomorrow.
The Weather Office says potential for TD09F to develop into a Tropical Cyclone in the next 24 hours is low and low to moderate thereafter.
A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for the Northern Division and Yasawa group and is now in force for eastern half of Viti Levu including Navua-Suva-Nausori, Sigatoka, Serua-Namosi, Naitasiri-Tailevu north and Ra-Rakiraki areas and for the Lau and Lomaiviti, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
A Strong Wind Warning remains in force for the land areas of the Northern Division, Northeastern parts of Viti Levu (from Tailevu North through Rakiraki up to Tavua), Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
The Weather Office is keeping a lookout for the system but people need to be prepared for continuous heavy rain and strong winds.
Weather Office Director Misaele Funaki is calling on the people to continue to listen to the weather updates on the radio as we are still in the cyclone season.
Localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
