Government together with the Asian Development Bank is currently making assessments into relocating the Suva Wharf.

Speaking at the Fiji Business Forum 2016/2017, Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum said a third of the Suva Port cannot be used as the foundation is very weak.

He said there needs to be a distinction between where the freight ships come and where the fishing vessels come in.

Sayed-Khaiyum also highlighted at the Fiji Business Forum that Fijian holdings Limited has been chosen as the lead applicant to buy Government Printery.

Sayed‑Khaiyum said they are not happy with their proposal but he hopes to close this deal soon and the only way to do that is if Fijian holdings is serious about investing in technology.
