The Suva Volleyball Association has paid tribute to their games commissioner, Ratu Iliesa Raketekete who passed away last week after a short illness.
Interim President Kemueli Naiqama says Ratu Iliesa was a friend, mentor, and respected father figure within the volleyball fraternity in Fiji and the region and Suva Volleyball is grateful that he has been part of the association in the revamping journey.
Naiqama says Ratu Iliesa’s knowledge of the game and his technical experience is something that they will miss adding that he had been mentoring his games officials for the last two seasons, as part of his succession plan.
Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre’s Male Advocate - Tevita Seruilumi acknowledged Ratu Iliesa’s enormous contribution to sports in Fiji, his leadership and unwavering support for women and girls in sports.
Ratu Iliesa will be laid to rest in his village in Nukuriwai, Noco, Rewa tomorrow morning.
