Suva Grammar U18 bundled out of Deans competition after 17-15 loss to Marist in playoff

Suva Grammar School has been bundled out of the Vodafone Super Deans Trophy under 18 competition after suffering a close 17-15 loss to Marist Brother High School in the Vodafone Southern Zone Secondary Schools Rugby under 18 third place play-off this afternoon.

Marist took a slight 10-8 lead at halftime.

Grammar came back strongly in the second half and scored a converted try to lead 15-10 before Marist replied with a converted try in the 19th minute of the second half to take a 17-15 lead.

Grammar tried to steal a win but Marist held on to their defence.

The main under-18 final between MGM High School and Nasinu Secondary School is currently underway.

In other matches today, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School edged Marist Brothers High School 12-10 to win the under-14 title, Suva Grammar School beat Marist 25-22 to claim the under-15 title while Marist scooped the under-16 grade after thrashing Grammar 23-7.

Marist also claimed the U17 title after beating Nasinu 35-17 while Naitasiri Secondary School defeated Nasinu 21-5 to scoop the U19 title.

In the Weet-Bix Raluve competition, Naitasiri Secondary School won the under 16 title after beating Nasinu Secondary School while Lomary Secondary School defeated Nasinu Secondary 3-0 to claim the under-18 title.
