The upgrade of the Suva Bus Stand is expected to continue for a few more months due to delays caused by inconsistent weather conditions.
Suva City Council Acting CEO and Special Administrator, Tevita Boseiwaqa, highlighted this during an interview and assured the public that work is ongoing despite the setbacks.
He says the project is aimed at improving infrastructure and easing congestion and was initially expected to be completed this week, but heavy rains and unpredictable weather have slowed progress.
Boseiwaqa also noted that traffic congestion in Suva remains a growing concern, and authorities are considering plans to expand the bus station into the MPI car park to accommodate increasing commuter demand.
The Acting CEO further says that they remain committed to completing the upgrade as soon as conditions allow, ensuring a safer and more efficient transport hub for commuters.
Meanwhile, transport operators and the public are urging authorities to provide clear answers and expedite the project to ease daily travel disruptions.
