A suspect has been questioned and released following the discovery of Winchester bullets in a house in Matalevu, Tavua. Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa confirmed that no one has been charged yet, while the seized bullets remain in police custody.
Winchester carries a variety of component bullets for centrefire rifles and handgun ammunition usually used for hunting and personal defence.
Meanwhile, concerns continue to grow after one gun and 600 ammunition were seized through a joint operation by Police, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and Fiji Navy on a vessel in Viti Levu waters last Wednesday.
When earlier questioned by fijivillage News about reports suggesting that more vessels might be smuggling weapons, Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu said no further reports were received.
