26-year-old Josaia Suqesuqevanua defied all odds to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce, Public Administration, Employment Relations and Human Resource Management from the University of the South Pacific today.
The Matailobau, Naitasiri man who is visually impaired told fijivillage News that his disability did not stop him from achieving his goal because he knows everything is possible through God.
Suqesuqevanua says he kept focusing on his ability because that is where his future lies.
Suqesuqevanua says his biggest motivation was his family, especially his parents.
He adds when the going gets tough, he just thinks of the challenges that his parents went through and the pivotal role they played to get him to where he is, so he just pushes himself to make his parents proud.
Suqesuqevanua also acknowledged his friends as well who accompany him when he is always away from home and being on campus and says sometimes some stressful nights of studies turn into nights of jokes and laughter to relieve the stress.
He says he wanted to study law and become a lawyer, but God had other plans for him and he is glad it worked out well.
Over 1,000 students graduated on day 1 of the USP Graduation Ceremony today at the Vodafone Arena, Suva. The second day of the graduation ceremony will start at 10am tomorrow.
