Super Rugby's governing body, SANZAAR will be forced to call off the 2020 season if COVID-19 halts proceedings for another five weeks.

The season is currently in limbo after it was announced that SANZAAR would suspend games for the foreseeable future, and their Chief Executive knows they do not have the scheduling space to push the competition back.

Sanzaar CEO Andy Marinos says if the competition is halted for the next five weeks then it is going to be almost impossible because they do not have the schedule to do anything further.

Marinos says it is important for them to work with their broadcasters and without the availability of players and fans it will directly impact their competition.

He also stated that the safety and welfare of the public, the players and other stakeholders is paramount.
