The Fiji U20 side will play under the Fijian Drua U20 banner in the Super Rugby U20 Competition which kicks off this weekend.
Fresh off winning their games at the recent Oceania U20 Challenge, the team is hoping to use these games to gain valuable experience before the Junior World Cup in South Africa later this year.
Coach Apisai Sailada says he has confidence in his squad’s readiness for the upcoming tournament.
Sailada says they have had to manage some niggling injuries, but aside from that, they are fully prepared.
He says it is important to adapt to the fast-paced nature of the game and the high ball retention rates of opposing teams, especially for teams in New Zealand.
The U20 coach says in Super Rugby, they will be facing fast-paced teams with strong ball retention.
He says they will be focusing on their set pieces, as Super Rugby teams are well-structured in this aspect.
Fiji will face the Hurricanes U20 in the next hour at 2.05pm at Owen Delany Park in Taupō.
