Sugar cane farmers to get historic $91.38 per tonne payment for 2022 season

Great news for sugar cane farmers as they will be receiving a historic record payment of $91.38 per tonne in total for the 2022 cane season.

During the Cabinet announcement, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka stated that farmers' accounts would be topped up by $5 per tonne, resulting in a final payment of $6.12 per tonne.

He says the final wash up payment will be made before 31st October this year.

Rabuka adds the cabinet has approved the provision of $8.2 million to top up the final cane payment for the 2022 season.
