Students will not have to share text books - Nath

Primary and Secondary school students will not have to share text books from this year.

This has been confirmed by the Assistant Minister for Education, Vijay Nath who said all the primary and secondary students will be given a set of text books each for free according to their subjects.

Nath said the soft copies for all the materials will be uploaded on the Ministry's home page and will be supplied to the schools before the 19th of this month.

He added that teachers will have to download the soft copy, make copies for students till March by when all text books are expected to be supplied by the Ministry.

He stressed that parents and guardians who have been given the book lists should not worry about buying any of the text books.

When asked how much will it cost the Ministry to print and supply the materials to all the students of Primary and Secondary schools around the country, Nath said the Ministry is in a position to supply all the materials.

He added that they will get funds from the 2015 National budget where $556 million was allocated for the Ministry of Education.
