About 20 students are expected to begin their Early Childhood Education in the newly commissioned Biaugunu Kindergarten Block in Cakaudrove next year.
While speaking at the opening ceremony, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Rural and Maritime Development, Dr. Mahendra Reddy reminded the villagers that education is the key to shaping the future of their children.
Dr. Reddy says the government’s main priority is investing in the children's education as it will guarantee a knowledge-based society for Fiji in the future.
Meanwhile, the teacher of Biaugunu Kindergarten, Elenoa Sorowaqa says before the commissioning of the new kindergarten they had to travel far to attend school and sometimes the children were late to school.
Students in Biaugunu used to have their classes in a closed small bure which had only one door.
The government through the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development invested over $12,000 from its Self-Help Programme for the construction of the new kindergarten block.
