Students and teachers of Lautoka Special School received musical instruments and school supplies as gifts from the government at the school’s Fiji Day celebration.
The gifts were presented by the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development Permanent Secretary Meleti Bainimarama.
The school had requested for supplies from the government earlier this year.
Bainimarama told students and teachers present at the event that Fiji Day is about celebrating the freedom that we enjoy in Fiji.
He says that Fiji Day is about moving all Fijians forward which is the underlying theme in the 2013 Constitution.
Meanwhile, for the first time ever, national Fiji Day celebrations will be held in the Western Division today which will take place at Prince Charles Park.
President Jioji Konrote will officiate at the celebrations in Nadi.
