A 19-year-old student is in police custody for a series of robberies in school compound quarters in Bua, while a few of his companions are expected to be brought in for questioning later today.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu says four school quarters have been broken into between the 9th to the 16th of this month.
He says the student also resides in the school compound.
ACP Driu is calling on all community leaders to closely monitor the activities of young people.
He says it is sad to note that a chain of houses was robbed by someone from within the compound and this should be a wake-up call for all leaders in communities and villages.
He says parents should continue to monitor their children’s activities at all times during the school holidays to ensure they do not get caught up in criminal activities.
ACP Driu adds the police will continue to visit communities, settlements and villages around the country, conducting awareness of such incidents.
