The Health ministry advises the public to stop the practice of scavenging food to prevent food poisoning.
This results in one death and eight people were hospitalized and discharged when consuming such food in the west.
Spokesperson Peni Namotu said the ministry and the town councils are burying the food items confiscated from supermarkets after the recent floods to prevent such practices.
These foods are not safe to be consumed and that is why they are dumped in the rubbish.
