With 144 days to go till the Paris Olympics 2024, and 652 days since the last time the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side were on the podium for a series win in Tolouse, France in May 2022, calls are getting louder to remove Ben Gollings as head coach.
With Fiji going down to Spain 21-19 in the LA SVNS making it their 19th tournament loss, the Stonewriters, a group made up of former Fiji 7s players are adding their voice to remove Gollings and bring in former 7s captain and Olympic gold medalist Osea Kolinisau to take Fiji to the Olympics.
The Stonewriters are made up of former players like Pio Tuwai, Vatemo Ravouvou, Livai Ikanikoda, Josua Vici, Joeli Lutumailagi, Aisake Katonibau, Setareki Bituniyata, Alasio Naduva, Waqabaca Kotobalavu, and Asaeli Tuivoka.
They are saying if contractual obligations are making it impossible to remove Ben Gollings, then it is better to pay him out.
The Stonewriters add with the Olympic Games around the corner, change is necessary and it must happen now.
We are currently trying to get Gollings and Fiji Rugby Union.
