The Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has thanked the ex-scholars of Saint Joan of the Arc Primary School for coming to their school reunion in Sigatoka.
He says when people grow up, they get into their own way of life and move away from the towns then have their own families. Sayed-Khaiyum says it does take a bit of an effort to come together to contribute to the school that helped develop them into an adult that they are today.
He adds even though his term at Saint Joan’s was a short period of time, it certainly left an indelible mark on him in terms of who he is today.
Sayed-Khaiyum says they lived in Matamata Sigatoka, the area in front was Yavulo, opposite the mosque, and they used to come to school on the railway line.
The Attorney-General says his mother's family had 13 brothers and sisters and all 13 of them went to Saint Joan's and is more of a representation of them today.
He adds the gathering of old scholars, in particular in primary school have very sweet memories and gathering here has rekindled those memories.
He says Saint Joan’s together with Sigatoka Methodist were the only two schools in town and they had a number of families that attended Saint Joan’s or Sigatoka Methodist.
He says the school looks forward to their contribution and support.
